Welcome


My research program strives to develop two central themes:

  • 1) carnivore ecology, conflict management, and conservation;
  • 2) developing methods to sample and monitor populations of animals that are difficult to count.

The complex dynamics of expanding and contracting carnivore populations, overabundant and endangered native species, and continuing land use changes provide ample opportunities to address current conservation and wildlife management issues in the Southeast US. An advantage to my quantitative approach to both ecological theory and conservation applications is that concepts and approaches can extend across taxa and regions. Working to refine methods in applied conservation and monitoring focused on projects in the US, we can extend our experiences to contribute to international conservation efforts.
